Our Mission:
At The Kinder Studio we are committed to celebrating the artist that dwells within every child. Human creativity is precious and should be cultivated and nurtured in every way possible.
About Us:
As parents, we strongly believe that children’s art, however crude or fabulous, deserves appreciation. We also know how challenging it can be to show the proper respect for each and every creation while maintaining some semblance of grown-up home decor.
After layers of tattered paintings and drawings threatened to take over our walls, we got the idea to turn our favorites into digital files which could then be reproduced as easy-to-frame prints. We also turned them into custom greeting cards, which can be used for all occasions; from party invitations to thank you notes.
Who we are:
Ian Mackenzie is a father and professional photographer, specializing in children’s portraits and weddings. A talented cartoonist and illustrator, it was his artist's eye and resourcefulness that led to his daughter, Esther’s, first framed print. It was also his patient guidance at the easel that kept her from adding paint colors until everything turned brown.
Esther Mackenzie, five, is our original artist in residence. She has progressed from simple paper paintings to furniture decoration and still doesn’t understand why every object, including the dog, can’t be considered a painting surface. Her current focus is ball gowns, the more elaborate and colorful the better.
Isla Mackenzie, 18 months, is the latest addition to our collection. So far, her specialty is “wall murals” Any wall will do. She prefers to work with crayon.
